Membership Sites

One of the first types of membership sites on the Internet was the online dating site. In the beginning they were mostly populated with undesirable people which gave these sites a very bad name. However, since the Internet has matured, these sites have become very popular among people from all walks of life and have even progressed so far as to offer pre-screening of their members.

Todays membership sites are extremely varied, covering just about every topic there is available. From unusual business ideas and selling stocks to fitness and marketing; there are even membership sites about membership sites! Some membership sites allow you to view what is inside the members area as a non-member and even read what has been posted on the message boards but unless you pay for a membership, you may not participate. Sites that provide information to find work at home jobs for example allow the visitor to view the jobs but they cannot actually apply for them unless they become a member.

To set up a members only website takes a lot of work, the right tools and much dedication but the monetary rewards and personal satisfaction can be huge. The topic of a membership site can be whatever you are passionately interested in or very adept at.

Being a member of one of these sites allows you to obtain information and products that you may not be able to obtain elsewhere; it makes you one of the 'elite' and part of a 'family' of like-minded people.

Running a membership site also reaps its rewards, not just for the regular monthly income that you may earn from all your hard work but for the satisfaction that you are providing a service to a group of people who now almost depend on you for the information and products that you provide. You have a responsibility to your members - not only are you working for yourself but you are working for them too.
