Kelley Names Best New 2007 Road Trip Vehicles

Summer is the best season when families and friends find time to travel. And the common thing that these traveling persons have is a vehicle. In this connection, Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com opened the search for Best New 2007 Road Trip Vehicles.

Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com road test editors chose 10 new vehicles well-suited for road trips. Their shoppers were asked as to which of these vehicles they would most like to take on the road this season.

As a result, the Jaguar XKR Convertible ranked 1st, BMW 3-Series Convertible ranked 2nd, Chevrolet Suburban ranked 3rd, Dodge Charger SRT8 ranked 4th, Mercedes-Benz E320 BLUETEC(R) ranked 5th, GMC Acadia ranked 6th, Land Rover LR3 ranked 7th, Ford Edge ranked 8th, MINI Cooper ranked 9th, and Mazda MX-5 Miata Convertible Hardtop ranked 10th.

The Jaguar XKR Convertible being the top vehicle has the same alluring sheet metal found on the XK. With sportier features, it has the 420-horsepower supercharged V8 and a dynamic suspension underneath.

The BMW 3-Series Convertible has a retractable hardtop. It is available twin-turbo engine. These two features are the premier in the history of the 3 Series. The roof retracts in just 22 seconds and the turbo engine yields 300 horsepower.

The Chevrolet Suburban has 45.8 cubic feet of gear with a maximum towing capacity of 9,700 pounds.

The Dodge Charger SRT8 shares few similar components with any other cars from the brand like Dodge 4x4 parts. The SRT8 has 425-horsepower and features a rear-seat DVD entertainment system.

Dodge is a brand name of automobiles and light to heavy-duty trucks. The name Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company was the name of the company from 1914 to 1927. In 1928, Chrysler Corporation acquired the Dodge Company. And in 1998, Dodge, together with the entire Chrysler subsidiaries fused with Daimler-Benz.

The Mercedes-Benz E320 Blue Tec gives 35 mpg touring. It has top of the line clean diesel power plant which produces astonishing amounts of torque. This is experienced with no shakes, rattles and emissions and smell of old diesels.

The GMC Acadia has three rows of seat. Kelley Blue Book editors describe it as "more stylish than a minivan and more efficient than a full-size SUV".

The Land Rover LR3 has an impure dial-a-surface Terrain Response system to three sunroofs.

The all-new crossover SUV Ford Edge has a larger backseat and a more huge cargo area.

The refined 2007 MINI Cooper is bigger and more powerful than its forerunner. From 35 mpg, its highway fuel economy has increased to 40 mpg.

The one which chased the list of Best New 2007 Road Trip Vehicles as it ranked 10th was the Mazda MX-5 Hardtop Convertible. It features a push button, an at most 100 pounds of power retractable hardtop and a 30 mpg highway fuel economy.

The marketing research team of Blue Book opened the voting on April 20 to 27, 2007 to more over 700 participants.

Jack R. Nerad, Executive Editorial Director and at the same time Executive Market Analyst for Kelley Blue Book and kbb.com. said that in choosing their list, they wanted to include a vehicle for every travel from weekend jaunts of one or two people, to week-long journey that involves one or two families.

He further said their criteria for choosing the cars included all the tangible and intangible need-to-have attributes such as driving enjoyment, passenger comfort, fuel economy and cargo space.

These vehicles proved to be a must-have in every family as they can accommodate huge space for a number of passengers.
