A cold sore can be a very unpleasant infection. You can remember staying awake and wondering just how to get rid of it. I will share with you some of the tips on how to get rid of cold sores. This include;

1.  Dip a tea bag in warm water and place it on the sore. This will help the infection heal faster because it has tannic acid which has anti virus  properties.

2.    Take vitamin supplements on the onset of a cold sore. Adding these supplements in  your diet will also help boost your immune system, giving you greater resistance to any viral illness. These supplements have minerals such as calcium, zinc that give your body more alkaline. The herpes virus that causes  cold sore cannot survive in an alkaline environment.

3.    Alcohol has been known to get rid of cold sores for centuries. Use cotton balls  or swabs to clean the infected area with alcohol. Do this about five times in a day. When you actually do this, you wipe away millions of virus and the less  he virus in your body, the faster you heal. You might want to try vodka.

4.    You can apply fresh aloe gel from the leaf on the sore, this will definitely  speed up the healing process dramatically. Oregano and garlic oil are also   great when applied on the sore, they make the area unfriendly for the herpes virus. Oregano oil of course smells better in public than garlic.

5.    The other method of getting rid of cold sores which has been with us for years  is ice. When you get that itchy feeling and you know that the dreaded cold sore is on the way, apply a pack of ice. The virus cannot go through duplication  process when the area is cold. This means that the virus will go back to its dormant position.
