Ayurveda stems from the great Vedic civilization of India and is considered to be the most ancient and comprehensive healing system in the world. This ancient science treats the uniqueness of each persons body constitution or the elements that are present within each person. It determines to what degree the elements (Fire, Earth, Water, Space, Ether)are found within the body and determines how they must be balanced. Furthermore, Ayurveda also treats and heals the individual as a mind-body-spirit component. This spiritual medicine goes to the root of disease and also provides solutions as a preventative medicine.

The question remains: What is stopping us from learning this science to enhance our life and to bring us closer to health and happiness? Why would we not be willing to take the responsibility for our own health and try these concepts in our life experience? Ayurveda certainly provides plenty of natural solutions for health that include the use of natural herbs, natural oils, Yoga, Meditation, Pranayam (The Science of Breathing), and so many more additional healing modalities. The science gets to the root of disease and heals by many different approaches which are natural and effective. If we were to just take the recommendations from its contribution in the field of Psychology we could greatly enhance our understanding of ourselves and our health.

Ayurveda points out that our thoughts, emotions and attitudes are an important part of our health. We must consider that if we are constantly angry, stressing, or full of hatred these negative emotions affect our health directly. We have proven to ourselves how damaging some of these emotions can be for our health and Ayurveda provides a structure for learning how to deal with these emotions and how to better understand yourself. Ultimately, the last goal for Ayurveda is not only healing disease and providing as a preventative medicine but also leads you to spiritual healing. You are provided with all of the tools to introduce all of its components into your experience in life and begin healing naturally. So what are you waiting for? Begin learning about Ayurveda today!
