Take Responsibility - Take Back Your Life

What's going on in your life right now? Are you happy? Do you feel like you're in complete control of your destiny? Or do you feel your life is determined by what happens around you? Chances are, you're probably somewhere in between - where you think you have control over some parts - but other parts seem external and random. Well guess what? You're actually inventing 100% of everything in your life, all the time - whether you realize it or not, whether you believe it or not, and whether you want to or not!

It can be difficult to process - and even scary at times - to assume responsibility for everything that happens to you. After all, when you 'accidentally' bump into something and cut yourself, who in their right mind would think they caused that? I have 3 words for you: You caused it. Now at first, you might feel resistance to accepting this reality. But to paraphrase Joe Vitale from 'The Secret', once you embrace and understand it to be true, that's where the real fun begins!

Recall, when it comes to Law of Attraction, it doesn't matter whether you want or don't want something (who wants to feel pain or bleed??) - there's only one thing LOA responds to - where your attention, energy, and focus goes. So while you might not immediately or logically piece together why you cut yourself, The Law of Attraction gave you exactly what you were vibrating. So congratulations, LOA is working in your life!

As humans, our egos often get in the way of deeper understanding. While we're eager to take responsibility for positive events in our lives, we're just as quick to chalk up negative events to chance, bad luck, or even something we deserve. The truth is though, The Universe is extremely precise, has nothing to do with luck, and is certainly not exercising some vendetta to get back at you.

There is only one entity determining what shows up in your life: Y-O-U. The sooner you grasp this, the more powerful you become. If you've ever been in a car accident, didn't your thoughts immediately jump to finding fault with the other driver? (C'mon, admit it, even if it was just so your insurance rates wouldn't go up!) Having another driver involved is convenient. But what if you hit a street sign? Would you jump out of your car and berate the sign for being in your path? (I'm not sure I want your answer to that...) What I'm saying is, either way, YOU were responsible for both circumstances.

One way to make it easier to assume responsibility for everything in your life is to remove the word 'fault' from your vocabulary. You cutting your finger wasn't your fault. The car accident wasn't anyone's fault. You simply attracted each situation you've experienced into your reality. When you own this, you also own the power to change - to create anything you want from this moment on.

The key to all this lies in the energy you're vibrating. When you're in 'blame mode', it's almost certain you're not feeling good. And when you aren't feeling good, you vibrate negative energy out to The Universe. Is it any mystery then what comes back to you? On the other hand, when you're in 'responsibility mode' - when you take ownership of your entire life - you feel confident, in control, in a word, positive. And only when you're feeling positive are you in a position to create, and to affect desired change.

So here's what it comes down to: Are you going to live by default - as a victim - handing away all your power, and leaving everything to chance? Or will you adopt the premise that you are responsible for everything which happens in your world? Should you choose the latter, you also inherit the power to create - to invent any life you desire. One thing I guarantee you, LOA will respond to your vibrations either way. It's what shows up for you which hangs in the balance. So reach out. Grab responsibility. Then create anything you want!

Until next time...

With love,

Ask Coach Jeff...

Question: I've heard you talk about 'being at ease', and I'm trying to incorporate it into my life. I even planned a 'Day of Ease', where I'd be in the flow, in the zone - and really feeling like my life was working. That day did not happen as planned though. I was running around, late for everything, and out of my comfort zone. Was this some sort of test? I'm really struggling to 'believe' in this process of being completely at ease. Any suggestions?

-B.G., New Jersey

First, remember Law of Attraction does work on a bit of a time delay. So your lack of ease that day was the result of past feelings you'd put out to The Universe. That said (though I'm not big on the word 'test'), I think you were presented with a number of awesome opportunities during your 'Day of Ease'. It might be clearer now that you're looking back on the day, but with each 'mishap' you really had two choices: 1. let it affect you and snowball into greater dis-ease, or 2. take a deep breath, and really FEEL completely at ease (even in the midst of your day unfolding as it was). Now I know it's hindsight at this juncture, but which would feel better to you? As for the 'believe' part of your question, mastering LOA is like building a muscle - it may help to start small, perhaps noticing you can put yourself in a state of ease immediately following and event that (you perceive) doesn't go your way. When you see this is possible, it becomes possible the next time, and the next. Believing is all about acting as though you've already received something. And I know it may not seem this way while things are transpiring, but you did have a choice. So next time, don't throw away your power. BE that person you wish to become! Hope this helps!
