Witchcraft and Magic Across the Ages

Across the ages, the magical practices of British Traditional Witchcraft, or "Trad Witchcraft," have been as important to the Trad Witch as breathing air. Magic is seen as simply another aspect of Nature, an added dimension of spiritual religious existence. Traditional Witchcraft is the historic witchcraft of yore and has nothing to do with Wicca, which dates from the early 1950's.

The Traditional Witch has always been highly spiritual. We view the concept of God, as the universal consciousness that is seen in all that surrounds us. In essence, Nature is the the very same as God. Thus, Nature is sacred.

Magic itself is nothing more than the utilization of the power of Nature, forces of God, to change or modify apparent reality to suit the goals intended by the Trad Witch. Thus, magical spellwork is, when directed correctly, a holy act, a variation of prayer, which brings about positive change in the individual, their family, community, and for the planet. It is an intended force for change, of creative modification. It can be used for any of the following purposes:

* For personal improvement and transformation.

* To protect themselves and their family.

* To improve their life and the lives of their family.

* To heal themselves and to heal others.

* To assist in obtaining a desired goal.

* To remove barriers and onstructions.

* To create a new start or new circumstances.

The power of magic can be a important force for good in our lives, if we are able to learn how to use it precisely. Magical outcome is never accidental. Magic is reflective of the belief that Nature unfolds in an orderly manner, and the events in this sequence can be known. With this information, it is possible to control or alter the energy surrounding these events in manner that will effect and change outcome.

The magical arts, to most people, seems rather mysterious, something weird and supernatural. Nevertheless, the magical arts are something different. For, rather than being something alien, magic is within the realm of Nature, and impacts our lives on the spiritual and physical planes.

The art of spellcraft is particularly potent because the Trad Witch has command of techniques that endow the very core of magic. While these techniques are not commonly thought of as applicable to magic, they actually date back in use in British magic for over a thousand years, if not longer. The terms commonly used for these techniques today, "meditation" and "visualization," may not be the same terms used 'back then', but the terms do not matter. The substance of what is taught does.

A final point: British Traditional Witches subscribe to an ancient concept of ethical conduct called the "Law of Return." This is reflective of the law in physics, which states that every action will generate an equal and opposite reaction. Accordingly, every Trad Witch knows that when an action is taken or a magical spell is sent, the energy of that action or spell will in time return to the sender in full force. The rule of thumb is to always use caution.
