When It's Time to Hire a Translation Company Instead of Relying on Translation Software

When it comes to translation of your English document into Japanese or Korean in America, trusting computer software to translate small documents seems simple and efficient enough. But trusting translation software to translate your documents or software into Japanese or Korean for people in Korea or Japan, there are some huge decisions to take in consideration.

For example, if you make great ice cream and want to now distribute it all over to grocery stores everywhere, you can't rely on your kitchen for that kind of an operation. Besides the fact that it's illegal, you need to make sure you follow certain rules and regulations, standards, health codes and licensing. The same rules apply for global marketing.

Trusting in a translation company to make sure that your documents not only look good, but read well is important but there are other political, legal and cultural considerations that need to be considered.

Legally

Just because what you said in English makes perfect sense on paper in America, doesn't necessarily give you or your company the green light to say those things in that way in other countries. What you may say could be considered illegal or offensive. When you hire a professional translation company, they are not just trained to translate your information, they are trained to make sure that what is coming across is legal for another country to distribute and makes legal sense.

Professionalism and Sensitivity

When trying to launch a product into the global market, businesses need to be sensitive and professional. If your product looks poorly translated or downright offensive to a country's religious, cultural or political views, your product is going to be banned or perhaps you will be fined. It's one thing to have a food product or toy description get lost in translation, but it is far different to have your business or company look unprofessional and unmanaged with poor translation by a software program from a box and not a professional translation service.

Competition

You can't expect your product to compete in other markets if your product cannot stand up to other products, similar to yours on the market. Unless you speak several languages, know the political issues, religious beliefs and laws of several countries, you and your product and organization are going to have a challenging time trying to compete in the global market. Why are consumers in other countries going to trust your product if there are misspellings, or cultural offenses in your language?

Unless you don't plan to go very far with your product into the global market, stick with your translation software. If your business is ready to make the big move internationally, deciding to invest in a professional translation company may be the best and most profitable decision you ever make.
