Classified advertising is still an effective way to promote your products and services. When doing classified ads however, you will want to follow a few key points that still hold true today. Everyone one knows that to make classified advertising work, you have to run alot of them, but to make each ad that you place a success, you will want to follow a few key advertising principles. Here's the first thing that you will want to focus on when creating your classified ad.

1) Your headline

The headline of your classified ad is the most important element of your ad's success. Your headline tells your reader what's in it for them and gives them everything they need to know before reading on. Your best bet is to use action words or trigger words that incites people to want to learn more. You can use words such as "discover" or "create" or "learn" or even "secrets". All of these words demand more attention and will help to get the high response that you are looking for.

In your classified ad, you should only want your reader to learn more. You should never try to sell anything via your classified ad as this is an ineffective way of selling your products and services. To give your headline a boost, you should consider starting out your headline with a question. Questions help to arouse a prospect's curiosity and get them to want to learn more, so keep this in mind. Here's the next part of your classified ad that you should pay attention to.

2) Your body copy

The body copy of your ad will tell your reader what's in it for them. This is where you explain further about whatever it is that you said in your headline. The body copy will be short, but it should still be a mini headline in and of itself. If I'm correct, most classified ad sites limit the body copy to only 50 characters or so. This isn't alot of room to express yourself so your best bet is to generate a free lead.

You should consider advertising a free offer of some sort. If you own a car repair shop, offer a free report detailing how to manage and take better care of your car. It doesn't matter what you do for a living. You can find a way to generate a lead and to get them interested in what you're offering them. Here's the final part that is critical to your success.

3) The closing

This is where you list your phone number, address, or website information. Your closing should tell the reader what to do, and what to do now. If you want them to respond by phone, your closing should be something like, "Call 1-800-111-1111 now for your free report today!" You want a strong call to action - something that will inspire your readers to take action now.

All 3 of these parts for forming a good classified ad work if you use them.

Be sure to start using them today to start seeing results from your classified advertising efforts.
