I was looking around my home the other afternoon trying to think of a way to decorate it. After a few different ideas, I immediately thought about hanging pictures of my family and our special moments together. What better way to show off these beautiful memories than in natural picture frames to create that easy, everyday look. Wood photo frames emphasize the artwork itself rather than the frame.
Picture frames, made from wood and hung with the proper photo framing supplies, create some of the most unique and beautiful designs a room can ask for. There is no better way to display your favorite photos. While you may not know it, photo frames are a great way for you to add decoration and character to your home. Sometimes, a photo frame and mount board can run rather expensive, especially when you are searching for a unique frame or something large.
Luckily, there are ways for you to make your own. Here is how:
The first thing you need to do is start looking around for natural wood picture frames at craft shops, discount stores or even, yard sales. Keep an eye out for photo framing supplies like a mount board or pre cut mat board while you're shopping as well. Check in your closet and attic too. You know what you have hidden away somewhere. You are looking for two types of natural wood frames. There is the cheaply mass produced ones and the expensive one-of-a-kind frame. Obviously, you would prefer the one-of-a-kind in either a traditional or modern style.
Get all your pictures and photographs better organized. This way you can figure out how many frames and photo framing supplies you need. Remember to measure the pictures so you buy the correct sized frame.
Next pick out adornments you'd like to use such as silver or gold accents. There is also the option of using crafting supplies to personalize the frame or mount board with words, ribbons or any other kinds of accessories you would like. I recommend going with a traditional matboard in a light color of to match the shade of the natural wood.
Take a look at the surrounding décor of the room. If you have natural wood furniture or trim, I would stick with that same traditional theme for your photo frames. Try recycling older frames by staining them with a darker stain and then matching it with the right matboard. It creates a more modern look.
Framed art and photo framing supplies are an ideal compliment to any room of your home. The best part is that decorating using framed pictures is quick, easy and is relatively inexpensive, too. I like to choose photo framing supplies and framed photos because it matches my décor. It also doesn't hurt matter that I love the actual photo, either.
