The AUC Honours Scholarships Program

The AUC Honours Scholarships program is a new initiative for 2007, and is available to domestic full- and part-time students of AUC member universities who are in their honours year.

Eligibility

•The AUC Honours Scholarships Program, 2007, is open to full- and part-time domestic students of AUC member universities who are currently pursuing an Honours program in the fields of Science, the Humanities, Engineering, Creative Arts, Health or Business.
•Applicants must have initiated their Honours program at the start of 2007.
•Applicants must be engaged in a research project that depends on or uniquely uses Apple technologies.

Inclusions

•The base value of the AUC Honours Scholarship is $4,000, which will be paid in two equal amounts midway through each semester, or, in the case of part-time students, paid in even amounts at a rate proportionate to the student's enrolment fraction.
•An additional $500 will be available to recipients who attend a conference, or publish their research in a relevant publication.
•An additional discretionary bonus of $500m determined by the review committee, is available for scholarship recipients who, on submission of their second report have excelled in their work. Reporting Obligations
Scholarship recipients are required to submit two progress reports, one half way through the honours program, and one at the completion of the program. •The AUC reserves the right to publish both reports (full, or extracts) on its web site and in its publications.

The first report should contain the following information as appropriate

•the background to, and explanation of the research area
•a preliminary literature review
•an outline of the scientific method or research methodologies employed

The second report should contain the following information as appropriate

•research project outcomes
•obstacles and lessons learned in the project
•future plans

•The reports will be requested by, and must be submitted to, the AUC programs manager. •Scholarship recipients are required to report to the AUC Programs Manager any change in their enrolment, such as withdrawal, a change between full- and part-time enrolment, or a change in enrolment fraction with 30 days of such a change taking place.

Selection Criteria The selection panel will consider the following selection criteria when reviewing applications:

•The student's capacity to undertake research and deliver as demonstrated by his/her academic record.
•The relevance and appropriateness of the research to be performed in relation to the goals and values of the Apple University Consortium.
•The quality and nature of the research to be performed.
•The student's interest and passion for the research area.
