A Water Powered Engine Would be a Dream Come True

It is now approaching four dollars a gallon. The cost of gas is wreaking havoc upon family budgets across the country. Most of us depend upon our cars to get us to work, get our children to school, and scurry about to all the other activities of life. Wouldn't it be great if we could buy a car with a water powered engine?

This might sound like fantasy, but one day soon it might be possible. If such an engine were possible, then we would be able to kick the oil addiction once and for all. This would have tremendous benefits which would entail savings to fully justify whatever cost it may take to perfect and produce engines running on water.

The obvious savings relate to no longer paying obscene prices at the gas station. But it goes far beyond that. Much discussed today is global warming. The burning of fossil based fuels like oil is widely blamed for making a contribution to greenhouse gases. These gases are to blame for the potentially devastating warming which will occur into the future should we continue to burn such amounts of fossil fuels.

Less appreciated are the hidden costs of oil. America expends billions of dollars protecting vital oil shipping lanes and defending oil fields themselves around the world. This huge expense isn't paid directly at the pump, however we all pay for it through higher taxes. America would have no such expense if we could use water instead.

We also know oil is not a renewable resource. This means once it runs out, it is gone. It will take millions of years for more to naturally occur. However, water is renewable. When used and emitted as steam it goes off into the atmosphere and comes back to us as rain in a never ending cycle.

It is obvious we need to move away from oil, however the answer to where is not so clear. There are many solutions on the table ranging from solar powered cars, hydrogen fuel cells to futuristic nuclear powered cars. The most alluring solution that is actually within our reach now is a car powered by water.

This is possible through the electrolysis of water thus converting it into a combustible substance. This product is sometimes referred to as Brown's Gas. The process has been around for decades, but has not been perfected for widespread commercial use. The time has come for a new Manhattan Project to get water powered cars on America's roads.

The reasons we need this progress are clear and several. From the environment to our pocketbooks, the need for a water powered engine is dire. The technology is there. Now what is needed is the will to pursue it before our tanks run empty as the last drop of oil is sucked out of the earth.
