There is no single weight loss method that you can totally depend on. If you want to lose weight, you need to make consistent efforts and also make changes in your diet and lifestyle to achieve your goal. It is easier to get lured by looking at weight loss ads but there is no guaranteed result even when you spend a good amount of money. Most of these ads are deceptive and misleading. All you need to have is, a right attitude and clear mindset before you plan to lose weight.

Unfortunately, there are multiple myths associated with weight loss, which are gaining popularity with people, especially women. Listed below are few such myths.

1) Fad diets allows you to lose weight permanently
Never deprive your body from essential vitamins, minerals, and carbohydrates. If you try to limit intake of certain types of foods, it can turn out to be an unhealthy choice. You will feel weak and may even start craving for high-calorie or sugary foods.

2) Include High-protein and low-carbohydrate diet to lose weight
Remember, a balanced diet does not refer to only protein-rich foods such as meat, eggs and cheese! If your body does not receive the regular supply of carbohydrates, it tends to store partially broken fats in your blood, which is likely to cause high levels ofuric acid. An increased level of this acid in the body leads to several health problems such as gout and kidney stones.

3) Starches are fattening and should be limited
On the contrary, some starchy foods such as rice and potatoes contain low amounts of fats and provide a good amount of energy to the body. If you eat them in appropriate quantity, you can not gain weight. However, these foods are low in fiber, so you can consider adding some green vegetables or pulses to make them a healthier alternate.

4) Herbal weight-loss products and slimming pills are safe and effective
It is not necessary that all products carrying herbal tags are safe and scientifically tested. In fact, some herbal products are likely to cause serious health disorders, which can even prove fatal. Therefore, you should be cautious while using such products and consult a doctor before you use them.

5) Skipping meals is a good way to lose weight
Never skip you meals in order to lose weight as you may feel tired and energy deficient. In fact you may end up consuming a lot more snacks and sugary foods after skipping a meal.
