Business phones are usually bought in bulk, which is why there are a lot of bulk deals available for Business phones on the Internet. Apart from buying new business phones, one can also buy used and refurbished business phones. Avaya, Lucent, AT&T, Nortel and Toshiba are some of the companies which offer phones for business purposes. Business phone systems which are 4-line phones with speaker phone and intercom come with several unique features. These are usually easy to install and connect to the standard phone wiring and do not require any key system or controller. Installing two standard modular phone jacks, each with 2 lines will suffice for two extension locations. Two data ports allow easy connection with other telecommunications devices such as fax machines or modems. Moreover, numbers in distinct one or two-touch memory locations can be dialed successively to form a chain - dialing string longer than 24 digits. These phones also come with Memory Loss Protection feature by which its memory and programming is saved after an interruption of power. Their Auto-Line Selection feature automatically selects an available line while making an outbound call. When answering an incoming call, the user is automatically connected to the line that is ringing when the user picks up the handset.

Some other phones have features such as 4-Line Caller ID / Call Waiting Capability which allows access to four separate lines of Caller ID / Call Waiting. Others also have message waiting and new call indicator. Certain higher end business phones have features such as audio control center, which simplifies the phone operation by combining common audio features for precise and fast toggle action between handset, headset, and speaker.

However, before buying these business phones, one must check on their compatibility features too. Many business phones are compatible only with other models from the same company, while some others are compatible with business phone models of some other major companies.

Since compatibility becomes an issue when one needs to expand their business, it is better to have phones which are compatible with other phones too.
