You provide your affiliates with a snippet of html to add to their website, then that is all you do. They do the advertising and drive customers to your website. You then have to sell the product. Your affiliates drive customers your way, but, unlike traditional sale personnel, they do not have to do the hard sell. They can help by pre-selling which can take the form of a review of the product (obviously positively) or a web page explaining the benefits it gave to them when they purchased it, but the visitors are directed to your sales page.

When the sale is made you pay the affiliates and the rest of the profits are yours. What you must keep in mind is that you would not have made that sale were it not for the efforts of the affiliate, so it is extra money for you. The commission does not come off any normal profit you would have otherwise made. Affiliate marketing is most effective with ebooks and software. You have no need for hard copies or for delivery costs. Every sale is money in the bank: Clickbank to be precise, which is the premier internet source of affiliate products, for both buyers and sellers.

Which takes us on to you selling products as an affiliate from your own website. Some people make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year without ever selling a single product of their own. An affiliate marketing business is an ideal way of making money without you needing a product, simply through affiliate revenue.
