You do not know of any home remedy? Impossible! If you take a few moments to think about what you have in our kitchen cabinets and refrigerators, you could easily make a list of super foods that can become ready ingredients of folk remedies for combating common ailments -- headaches, cuts and bruises, burns, acne and pimples, heartburn, dizziness, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, weight gain, dry skin, sleeplessness, dullness, anxiety, indigestion, sore throat. These foods usually don't burn a big hole in your pocket, neither do they taste too awful like some chemical drugs from the medical store. In fact these DIY folk remedies that you can easily prepare and mix yourself at home are some of the most effective medicines!

As more people become wary of the adverse effects of chemically produced drugs and health products from the store, natural home remedies also become more popular. Though these natural alternative medicines are never intended as a substitute for professional medical care, their powerful healing attributes have long been used thousands of years ago since biblical times and proven to safely cure diseases and correct health disorders for generations after generations. For instance, honey products are a natural home remedy in many ways: 1) Honeycomb, chewing on a honeycomb can help calm a severe hay fever attack. 2) Lotion made of bee propolis extract has proven to be effective in getting rid of acne. 3) Add lemon juice and some natural sweetener honey to a glass of hot water to help sooth a sore throat. 4) Take bee pollen before the hay fever season, you will help to build a natural immunity. Other common traditional natural home remedies include cayenne pepper, sea salt, garlic, coconut oil, ginger root, and apple cider vinegar.

And in a multi-racial country where I live, many cultures including Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Eurasians meet and form a rich melting pot. Here, very interestingly, you can even find very traditional herbs such as the Chinese ginseng (Panax quinquefolium) and Malay tongkat ali (Eurycoma longifolia) immersed in jars of honey and used as a health tonic and home remedy. I believe that as more and more cultures cross and people from different places around the world come together to share their wisdom on what is effective for self-healing using natural foods, the list of folk remedies will continue to grow.
