If you are considering giving up smoking, there has never been a better time. Not only are you giving yourself a chance of a healthier, longer life and saving money, if you are in the UK you will also be able to enjoy being in a pub in a smoke-free environment as this summer, smoking will be banned from all pubs and private members' clubs thanks to a vote in the British Parliament which was won by a huge margin.

There is no certain way to stop smoking, but about eight in every ten are successful with hypnotherapy. Willpower has a 3% success rate, and nicotine replacement therapy 6%, according to UK Government white paper statistics. Hypnotherapy is as powerful a help as you are likely to get, but success will not be certain.

This is how hypnotherapy for giving up smoking works. The therapist will endeavour to make you very physically relaxed simply by using his or her voice. They may get you to imagine a peaceful tranquil scene and then do some progressive relaxation techniques which means relaxing all the muscles in the body starting with the feet and ankles and working up from there. Two main suggestions are then given to you - that you don't smoke and you have no desire to smoke. The "subconscious mind" is able to accept these suggestions for permanent change, thereby breaking the smoking habit.

Look upon hypnotherapy as the most positive thing you can possibly do about breaking free from the smoking trap. Hypnotherapy is in many ways as much an art as it is a science, results therefore vary considerably between individuals and do not lend themselves to statistics any more that with most forms of therapy.

If you are still hesitating, then remember that about 125,000 men and women die each YEAR in the UK as a result of smoking related illness. If you have made up your mind you want to stop smoking for good then hypnotherapy could work for you.
