Don't Mind Me - I'm Just a Mathematician

Look. Just because a person is a mathematician and loves numbers and that sort of thing, doesn't mean this person is an absolute weirdo. You know, if you meet me in person, I don't really look like a mathematician, or someone who spends time reading about things like topological spaces or the construction of real numbers using Cauchy Sequences. In fact, I think I'm downright cool because I like this stuff, and this attitude is what enables me to bring this subject to others and make it understandable to the math haters.

In my travels, I find that more than three quarters of the people I ask have a strong aversion toward math. This number is way too high. As naturally curious human beings, we should love math and the wonders that are wrapped up in this subject. Okay. I admit that math can be confusing, bewildering, frustrating, and vexing sometimes; but for those who give this discipline a chance, the rewards can be equally positive. My personal views aside, math is the one subject that holds all knowledge together. Truly the keys to the mysteries of life are somehow embedded in this subject, and if we can somehow get our hands on those keys-as we have many times in the past-we can unlock the secrets that have eluded us for centuries.

Now don't go and just take my word for such bold statements. Quantum physicists, who happen to use highly advanced mathematics and mathematical models to explain this seemingly paradoxical world of subatomic matter, are starting to make discoveries that are eye-shattering, to say the least. With new discoveries and advances in this quantum world, scientists are showing the interrelationship between mind and matter, and are coming up with some wacky propositions that could theoretically be possible. Such wacky and hitherto-confined-to-the-science-fiction-realm-of-reality notions are things like time travel, parallel universes, and other really weird stuff.

So don't mind me. I'm just a curious mathematician trying to make sense out of it all. But at least I have a chance to understand some of this stuff because I embrace mathematics rather than shun it. You too can get a sneak preview into this wonderful world of knowledge. All you have to do is pick up some books on math and start reading. Enjoy.
