The UEFA Champions League (also known as the European Cup, UCL, CE1, C1[1] or CL) is a seasonal club football competition organized by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) since 1955 for the most successful football clubs in Europe. The Champions League contains 32 teams in the group stage, and is be preceded by three qualifying stages. Champions League hymn is something really special. Champions League is always unpredictable and who knows even any minnow can win at the end of it. In the 1992-93 season, the tournament was renamed to UEFA Champions League and in 1997/98, eligibility was expanded to include not just domestic champions but also the best performing runners up according to UEFA's coefficient ranking list. In UEFA's coefficient system, a team finishing second in the Spanish La Liga would be more deserving of an automatic place in the Champions League than a team finishing first in, for example, Polish Orange Ekstraklasa. The UEFA Champions league is open to the league champions of all UEFA member associations (except Liechtenstein, which has no league competition), as well as to the clubs finishing from second to fourth position in the strongest leagues. Since January 2007 the two lowest-ranked league competitions (currently the Andorra and San Marino leagues) can also represent their domestic champions in the Champions League. In addition to sporting criteria, any club must be licensed by its national association to participate in the Champions league. Liverpool became the first team to negotiate all three rounds of qualification and reach the Champions League group phase, a feat matched by Artmedia Bratislava of Slovakia in the same season. The Champions League final is the most important match of the season in European club football. The first European Cup/UEFA Champions League final to be competed between two clubs from the same country was in 2000, when Spanish giants Real Madrid and Valencia reached the final. The hymn's chorus is played before each UEFA Champions League game, as well as at the beginning and end of television broadcasts of the matches. UEFA Champions League is a highly profitable competition for the clubs that reach the group stage. This season's Scottish Premier League winners could go straight into the Champions League group stages. The UEFA Champions League 2007-08 is the 53d edition of the European championship football club tournament and 16th edition under the current UEFA Champions League format. Originally, AC Milan were barred from the Champions League, but were restored to the competition on appeal, although instead of entering the group stage directly, they first had to negotiate a third qualifying round tie, in which they beat Red Star Belgrade by an aggregate score of 3-1. AEK Athens won their first UEFA Champions League match when they beat Lille 1-0 in their fourth group game at the Olympic Stadium. Barcelona set a new record of 15 games without a Champions League loss, having gone undefeated from their first match in the 2005-06 Group Stage against Werder Bremen until they drew 1-1 with the same team in their second match of the 2006-07 Group Stage, before being beaten by Chelsea in the next match.

Liverpool, whose 2005 win was their fifth overall. Liverpool have a formidable record in Europe under Benitez. Liverpool racked up the biggest-ever Champions League margin, blitzing Besiktas 8-0 at Anfield courtesy of Yossi Benayoun's hat-trick.

Arsenal

Arsene Wenger admitted it was mission accomplished after Arsenal reached the knockout stages of the Champions League. Arsenal won't be having any problems in group stages with their young squad.

Manchester

Manchester United's 7-1 victory over AS Roma at Old Trafford was the fourth highest-scoring Champions League match ever (excluding matches from preliminary and qualifying stages).
