Top Five Tips To Spring Clean Your Wardrobe

A sudden desire to change your look can happen any time for any number of reasons.

Sometimes you don't want a full-on overhaul, just a few tweaks to enhance your image - a kind of personal spring clean.

Looking good is not simply about being fit, stylish or wearing the latest designer label, but about attitude, confidence, and feeling good within. You don't have to be perfect to make the most of yourself.

Get tough when clearing out your wardrobe.

It makes no difference where you bought your clothes from or how recently. It's all about whether you actually wear items and whether they really work for your body shape, colouring and lifestyle. True style is being able to throw together any mix of clothes, making them look great on you.

Throw out anything that is too big or too small, old but not old enough to be considered vintage, tired or unfashionable. It's better to have a few items that you really do like than masses of clothes that you never wear. It's not necessary to keep replacing your wardrobes each season unless you're super-rich and live that sort of lifestyle. But chuck anything you don't feel suits you - and be prepared to be harsh to yourself, when you decide what you can and can't claim to look good in.

If you have an item of clothing that has hung in your wardrobe unworn, get rid of it and replace it with something that works.

Job interviews are always a source of sartorial stress and knowing that you have 30 seconds to create that crucial first impression can lead people to overdress and end up feeling and looking thoroughly uncomfortable.

If in doubt, take the trouble to find out the dress code in the workplace and dress as though you are already working in the company.

You don't have to wear a suit to look professional. Team soft unstructured separates like cardigans and wrap-over jackets with skirts or trousers are perfectly appropriate.

Appearing clean and well-groomed is the most important thing. If your aim is simply to inject a little bit more glamour into your existing style - then work on the way you feel, rather than rush out to buy lots of new gear. Glamour is about really owning your look. It's about feeling drop-dead gorgeous.

You don't have to wear a revealing dress that lets it all hang out - but wear your clothes with confidence, great posture and attitude.

1.Less is always more - go for an understated look.
2.Understand your body shape and dress for it. You have to be comfortable in your own skin to comfortable in your clothes.
3.Be honest with yourself about your size and buy for it. If it's not the size you want to be, cut the label out.
4.Never show cleavage and leg together, just one or the other. If you wear a baggy top, team it with a slim bottom, and vice versa.
5.Buy clothes that you are comfortable in now, not those that will fit you when you are thinner next month.

Start with spring cleaning your own wardrobe, then your partner and children, if you have and sort it out; out with the old and in with the new. You will be amazed to see how many other people who would love to buy your clothes. Just because you don't need it anymore, doesn't mean others wouldn't love to wear it. And it will give you some extra cash to put towards your new wardrobe.
