Borla and GTO: a perfect combination

Most of us think that the exhaust system of our Pontiac GTO is just simply the tailpipe. We are wrong then. It is more complicated than that.

There is the manifold, which is designed to collect the exhaust gases from all the cylinders and bring them into a single pipe. They are manufactured using the least metal, occupying the least space and having the least cost. As the cylinders fire at different times, exhaust gases leave them at different times also. These cause the exhaust gases to create a back pressure and disrupt normal engine performance.

Then, there is the header, which is an improved manifold. This time, it is designed to perform well in collecting the exhaust gases that the manifold did not collect. Headers are generally steel pipes with bends and folds so all the exhaust gases arrive at the same time.

The exhaust gases then pass through the catalytic converter, which turns harmful gases into less harmful ones. It then goes through the muffler, where the gases escape into the air.

All these are linked together, with gaskets in between to ensure a tight fit. Most gaskets are made from solid copper, guaranteeing that the gaskets would not shrink, deteriorate or worse, blowout in optimum working conditions. Exhaust gaskets feature an embossed O-ring, which is designed for increased pressure around each exhaust port. This creates a tight, leak-proof seal between the cylinder heads and the exhaust manifold or header.

The Pontiac GTO is yet another in a long line of high-performance American vehicles. Like the GTOs of old, these newer models are full of horsepower and style. As such, you'll want to get the most from this investment.

Even performance models such as the GTO will run cooler and have a more complete evacuation of the combustion chambers with the addition of an exhaust system specifically tuned to decrease backflow pressure and increase fuel efficiency.

Borla's cat-back exhaust system is ensured to last you a lifetime of optimum working performance. It has installed dyno-tuned power. A Borla exhaust systems has true bolt-on performance, so no need for various gadgets to install it. It snaps easily in place.

Every Borla exhaust system kit is designed to precisely manage power losses and exhaust velocity while looking and sounding great. You will see a significant difference in performance including increased fuel efficiency and acceleration.

Borla exhaust systems are specially designed with aircraft grade, all T304, mandrel-bent stainless steel tubing and fittings for extreme durability, as well as all the hardware you'll need for a quick and easy installation. Borla is so sure of their kits; they come standard with a million mile warranty. You'll immediately notice the difference -- responsiveness will increase as cabin noise decreases due to the perfectly tuned muffler.

Just as the Pontiac GTO is a legendary name among muscle cars, Borla is a legendary name in exhaust systems, specializing in solutions that turn heads with the distinctive sound of high performance.
