Writing is an essential part of communication, and therefore it is no wonder that it has remained crucially important even in this modern era. We learn about ancient times simply because a human being recorder the occurrences of his time on paper. Similarly, we learn about emotional intelligence from people who have penned their thoughts for others to learn and follow. Daniel Goleman's writings on emotional intelligence changed the way the people look at success.

People have believed for very long that a person's success depends on how intelligent he is. In other words, Intelligence Quotient, or IQ is directly responsible for the level of your success. Analytical and reasoning skill tests help psychologists determine the IQ level of an individual.

It is still unknown why the world quickly agreed with Daniel Goleman's ideas of emotional intelligence, althou we must mention here that many did question his theories. There were some who disagreed with evidence that his ideas of recognizing emotional intelligence as a subset of intelligence. However, their numbers were too few to have a serious effect on the general acceptance of the theory, and so his point of view on emotional intelligence is definitely here to stay.

With the sudden increase in popularity in this new psychological field, many authors have attempted to write on the topic, either in agreement with the theory or to find loopholes in it. However society as a whole has accepted the fact that people can use their emotions to become what they want to. The times that we live in often allow for us to find articles on emotional intelligence through print on online media. The power of words is a definitive leader in shaping our thoughts. Words shape thoughts and thoughts in turn shape actions. Thanks to words, Jesus was crucified, thanks to words wars have been started and nations bombed. Such is the power of words on mankind. In our present modern day world, words still shape our thought processes and our thoughts still shape our actions and words therefore still effect changes in the world, for better or for worse.

The online and print media articles on emotional intelligence have definitely shaped our outlook towards the topic. The most important factor was the book published by Goleman, as mentioned above. The internet is a great source of information on the subject, and you may use search engines to constantly update your knowledge on the subject.

It is important to remember that although some of what you read online may seem untrue or irrelevant, the words still succeed in embedding some train of thought in your mind. Therefore it is important to evaluate every thing that you read before you discard it.
