Tying Up Loose Ends

"There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning." Louis L'Amour (1908-88) Western writer

At this time of year many of us are looking forward to what the new year will bring, but also back on the year that has just been completed. It is a time to consider which of our loose ends we need to tie up, which to let go of and which new ones to take up.

Do you need to put on a final spurt to get something completed? Set yourself a deadline and go for it! What new threads can you pick up to help you with your future plans?

Do you need to let something go? If you've been putting it off, is it because you really have no intention of doing it?

What threads do you need to take up to add to the weave of your life? What is lacking? Some "me" time? A hobby? A professional challenge to really get your teeth into?

Keep active. This thread needs to run through your life consistently. Even if you can only fit in 5 minutes of activity per day you will benefit enormously. I knew I was busy today, however, this morning I went to the gym to do a 30 minute session. My day has been brighter because of it. If I get time later, before bed, I will do a short session of abdominal exercises and press-ups. That will help me sleep well!

Threads snap when pulled too tight. Are you being pulled by what you feel you have to do? If there is no chance of dropping this particular thread, how can you lessen the strain by becoming more engaged in the whole process? Who can you discuss this with? Make an appointment to see them now.

The fabric of life is all the more interesting if we add new threads regularly. Experiencing something new may not always be a total success; however there is always something to be learned from it. What new thing can you do today?

What threads can you pick up to make life easier or better for someone else? Which do you need to tie up tightly or drop? Will your own life be improved if you do so? Will you free up some time to focus on the things you need and want to do? Will you look back of the tapestry of your own life and like what you see in the threads?
