So , you've seen them , all the adverts spread all over the web , " Sign up for my program and i'll make you a million dollars by lunchtime tomorrow " or " My business makes me $20,000 a week, buy my $15 book and i'll show you how ".
Let me ask you a question...if you had found a way to make $20,000 a week , would you have the time to worry about writing , marketing , and selling a $15 book ?
If I had discovered the ' magic way ' of making that sort of money , I would probably be thinking " hey , if i can make $20,000 this week, i'll spend the time refining the system so next week i'll make $25,000 ". The last thing I would even consider is worrying about is if i'd sold a few $15 books.
There are only ever going to be a certain amount of ways to make money out of anything , so why are there thousands of adverts and websites claiming to have an original idea ?
In my experience , most so called 'money making opportunities' currently offered on the internet fall into one of a few catogaries -
1. The Great Google Adwords Scheme.
All of a sudden there are Google 'experts' coming out of the woodwork. they all know the 'secret' answer to earning a fortune with Google. The truth is that it is possible to make money with Google Ads , it just takes some considerable time to get it right. It is possible to burn a whole load of money , with no return at all. If this is the way you want to make your money , then do your own research first. There is enough FREE information on the web , check the FREE forums for real advice , study the market first before you buy another book , that will probably be the same as the last one that you bought.
2. The Get Paid For Writing Ads Job Scheme.
A very thinly disguised offer to tell you all about how to write Google ads. Claims like "the company pays you to write ads" and " you spend five minutes writing an ad , and then sit back and watch the money come in " are utter rubbish. They forget to tell you about bidding on keywords, and that you only get paid if someone 'clicks' on your ad .
3. The Buy My Marketing Plan and Recruit Others Into Your 'Downline' Scheme.
So , here's the deal - buy a $200 book , or series of CDs , or online videos , and learn how to get others to buy the same books , CDs etc. you , of course, get a percentage of these sales..... promise.
4.The Send $6 To Everyone On This List and Get $250,000 in your Paypal Account in Ten Days Scheme
Another variation on the old 'chain letter' scheme that has been around for years and years. The only one who makes money are the ones on top of the list . Do you want to spend hours and hours posting messages on forums and sending emails in the hope that someone will send you $6 ?
5.The Get 8 Billion Visitors to Your Website Today Scheme.
Sign up now and get 2 dozen half interested wannabes to click on your homepage because if they do they will get credits so that their site might get advertised to 2 dozen half interested wannabes who will click on their homepage because if they do they will get credits so that their site........do you get the picture ?
6.The Sell eBooks and Make A Fortune Scheme
Here's the deal , buy 5,000 eBooks , sell them on ebay or through a website ( that the seller will provide ) and make money.
The fact is that everyone on ebay is selling the same books. You would be better off writing your own original books on specialist 'niche' subjects.
I'm sure that there are some that I have missed. The fact is that there is a whole load of rubbish being sold on the internet that is dressed up to be something of real value. Just remember , you can buy a flashy website 'off the shelf' for $50 , and an evening spent writing some very clever copy will often be enough to convince a lot of people that you are selling something worth having.
So be careful out there kids.....the sharks are in the water.....
