How To Start Your Mailing List For Your Postcards

Now that the holiday season is fast approaching, you're on your way to completing your postcard printing project for this time of the year. All you have to do now is to send them out to everybody that you know, especially that you've started your own business as well.

But wait. Does this mean that you'll just go ahead and send them out to as many people as you can or to distribute them to just everybody?

Although postcard printing pieces are one, if not the most, effective marketing campaign for all kinds of businesses, great and small, it also does not mean that you just start firing your postcard printing pieces out at will or randomly. What you need to have is a plan so you'll be able to get them to target readers that will help make your cash register create a merry sound.

Ask yourself first - why is it important that you have a postcard printing mailing list? Are you targeting new clients? Or are you getting in touch with old loyal ones who are already doing business with you? Who are your target audience?

The bottom line: who is in your mailing list?

So you don't have a mailing list yet for your postcard printing pieces. Why not start with the most obvious of ones - your friends, lovedones, business associates, acquaintances, former schoolmates, former coworkers, or even your neighbors. You can start with these people. All you need to do is get their full names, and other important information such as their addresses and telephone numbers, and you can now start your very own database for your postcard printing mailing list.

A mailing list for your postcard printing project made up of people you know is the best list there is because (1) they will most likely be interested in what you have to offer as they know you; (2) they'll be more attracted to get into business with you; and (3) you can generate new leads from your personal mailing list especially from those that they will send your way.

And you also don't have to stress so much with creating that mailing list for your postcard printing project. All you have to do is create one on a database program such as Excel, and even in Microsoft Word, and you're on your way to having yourself your very own mailing list.

Finally, starting your mailing list from those you know can really be worthwhile especially when you need to follow up during times when there is silence from the end of your target clients. With a personal mailing list made up of people you know, you can easily call them up and ask if they received your postcards or if they can send some business your way. Phone conversations tend to be more comfortable and not so stilted, which I think is the best way to start a business relationship with your clients.
