Choosing the best places to scuba dive is important before setting out to plan a diving adventure. You have to decide what type of sights you want to see and how deep you are prepared to venture. There are coral reefs to be seen and sea wrecks to be explored. Each has its own destination and attractions for the scuba divers.

Some of the best places to scuba dive are the Bay Islands, Jamaica, Aruba, Belize, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Mexico, St. Kits and Nevis, Tobago, Turks and Caicos, and Antiqua.

The Bay Islands are located 12 and 40 miles off the coast of Honduras. The Bay Islands, locally known as Las Islas de la Bahia, serve as a remote outpost set in the center of the world's second largest barrier reef. The islands form the visible portion of the Bonacca Ridge, which is an underwater mountain range formed by the volcanic activity centuries ago. The islands' mountainous jungles slope down to perfect white sand beaches shaded by coconut palms. The under-ocean mountain ridge and marine life, make the diving experience a memorable one.

The Little Cayman's Bloody Bay Wall was discovered almost by accident by divers and was instantly proclaimed as one of the underwater wonders of the diving world. The Cayman Islands are even today one of the top attractions for scuba divers from all over the world.

Jamaica has attracted scuba divers to its waters for centuries. These diving spots offer much to be seen of the underwater life and the undersea formations. Jamaica has been described as a diver's delight. Most of all, the hospitality of the people of Jamaica will keep you coming back for more.

The kaleidoscope of colors that the waters of Mexico offer deep-sea divers here is amazing. Schools of Sergeant major fish striped in bright yellow and black swim merrily along. Parrotfish shine as if under a glow lamp. French grunts with blue-green shimmering stripes dart among white angelfish as the two schools mingle to avoid the human swimmers ogling them. All add to the fun and adventure of the scuba dive. If you are lucky, you may find yourself sharing the water and excitement with a couple of dolphins.

These are among the best locations to scuba dive, and there are many more artificial locations that have been developed by resorts complete with deep see wrecks fabricated for the pleasure of scuba divers. There are real wrecks as well, but they must be explored under the supervision of expert divers. A map of the location of real sea wrecks will be available with the local tourist office of the various scuba diving locations. So make preparations before you go off on your next scuba diving adventure.
