Congregation Beth Hamedrosh is "on the move"! We're pleased to announce that construction began in late May 2006, followed by a joyous groundbreaking celebration on June 11, for our new property at 200 Haverford Rd. in Wynnewood. Estimated completion date is March 2007. See the Photos page for pictures.

Our move began with the acquisition of a large house on 1.1 acres at the corner of Haverford and Manoa Rds. While the necessary zoning approvals, permits, and design work proceeded, the shul office, rabbi's office, and library relocated to the new property. (They've temporarily relocated back to the old shul during construction.)

Our new shul will use new construction as well as elements of the existing house. It will include a sanctuary for Shabbos and Yom Tov davening combined with a kiddush and simcha facility, a chapel for weekday minyanim, a full kitchen, offices for the shul and the rabbi, a conference room/classroom, and a library.

Our architects Atkin Olshin Lawson-Bell have worked with us continuously throughout this process, and are now joined by contractor Ernst & Ernst of Hatfield, PA. Bryn Mawr Trust Company is providing the financing.

As you might imagine, designing and building a new shul is a tremendously expensive undertaking. We are a relatively small congregation, so any help from other sources is very meaningful.

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to our building fund, please mail your check to the attention of Michele Levy, Congregation Beth Hamedrosh, 7505 Brookhaven Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19151. If you would like to discuss this project, please contact Barry Gesserman at Bgess@comcast.net.
