The purpose of the fairing on your Honda CBR is to reduce wind drag. This is done by making the fairing as aerodynamic as possible; and the net effect of doing this means a more stable and secure ride.

Honda fairings have changed considerably since their inception. Man made faster motorcycles, and as such the pressing need to deflect wind around the bike became greater. This is true not only on the racetrack, but on the streets as well.

Made mostly from plastic, the fairing on your CBR can be quite fragile. You should always handle your fairing with great care.

The purpose of a motorcycle fairing is to reduce the wind drag of the bike as it hurtles along the road. To accomplish this task, the fairing on a motorcycle has to be very aerodynamic. The more aerodynamic the fairing, the more steady the bike is during transit.

Fairings have taken many shapes over the years, with manufacturers building faster and faster bikes all the time. Not only are fairings aerodynamically important, but they often have aesthetic importance too.

That said the motorcycle fairing is a fragile piece of equipment, and needs to be treated with respect.

Tugging at the wrong part of your fairing can easily result in it cracking. Motorcycle fairings are attached to the bike with a plethora of screws, bolts and clips. You need to find out how exactly your fairing is attached by using the manual instead of trial and error.

Often you'll find that your bike has side panels and lower fairing. The purpose of this is simply ease of access - it means that you don't have to strip down the entire bike to perform routine maintenance on the things behind the fairing.

Bike side panels are usually pretty easy to remove, as long as you take into account the attachment points of course. However the front and lower fairing aren't usually so easy. They can be hard to handle due to their size and bulk, and as such, great care should be adopted when handling.

Never lay your fairing out on the cold, hard floor. Always lay it on a smooth, soft surface - this will significantly reduce the number of scratches it takes on, and generally add to the long life of your motorcycle fairing.

Add-ons to consider purchasing are crash mushrooms. In simple terms, crash mushrooms can be described as pods which sit nicely on the sides of your bike. These pods stop your fairing taking the flak during a fall or drop.
