High Visibility Packaging forecasts Report ( http://www.bharatbook.com/Market-Research-Reports/High-Visibility-Packaging-forecasts-to-2012-and-2017.html ) presents historical demand data (1997, 2002 and 2007) plus forecasts (2012 and 2017) for clamshell packaging, carded blister packs, windowed packaging, skin packaging and other types.

US demand will increase 4% annually through 2012 US demand for high visibility packaging, including clamshell, blister and other types, is expected to increase four percent annually to $8.5 billion in 2012, representing nearly 34 billion units and creating a market for 1.1 billion pounds of plastic resins. Gains will be driven by favorable advances in consumer spending along with the growing influence of mass market retailers, which tend to favor blister packs, clamshells and other high visibility containers for their theft and tamper deterrence and ability to effectively showcase products. Further growth will be limited by the rising volume of offshore production and packaging of such products as toys, games, sporting goods, hardware and electronics.

Carded clamshells, blister packs offer best prospects Best opportunities are anticipated for carded clamshells and carded blister packs, which together accounted for 52 percent of high visibility packaging value in 2007. Clamshell demand is expected to increase five percent annually to $2.8 billion in 2012, bolstered by strong gains in food markets such as fresh produce and prepared foods. In addition, clamshells will benefit from their upscale appearance; thick, rigid construction, which is particularly suited to larger, heavier items; and ability to deter theft and tampering. Blister pack demand will advance 4.4 percent annually to $2.2 billion in 2012, stimulated by healthy gains for pharmaceutical blister packs resulting from regulatory issues associated with unit dose packaging. Blister pack demand will also benefit from rising interest in sustainable packaging. Demand for windowed packaging will rise at a below-average pace as a result of slow growth in baked goods packaging a major application. Skin packaging will register the slowest growth based on declining demand for carded skin packs brought about by higher production costs and the shift to offshore production in key applications such as hardware.

Medical, pharmaceutical markets to see best growth Food will continue to account for little more than half of the high visibility packaging market over the next decade based on extensive use in such applications as baked goods, prepared foods and fresh produce. However, fastest growth is expected for pharmaceutical and medical product markets, with advances supported by patient compliance issues and the distribution efficiency benefits of blister packaging.
