You have your jogging shoes on and you're ready to run like the wind. You plug in your iPod, and you are good to go. There's nothing quite like running to music. Of course the die-hard athlete will argue that music is not the way to go while running. But then again, how many of us are marathon runners?

Some believe that there are several benefits to running with music. It helps many people get away from everyday stresses and helps them unwind as they run. Some like music and running because it revitalizes the body and soul. Some just like to pass the time listening to music as they run. Music tends to make exercise easier and the time spent running seem less.

Running to music is really a good way to relieve the stress that has mounted up during the day. The sounds of the road (especially if you live in the city) are eliminated because you have plugged in some good tunes. All that's left is your favorite music and a long, relaxing run. Some like to tune into their favorite radio station. While others, enjoy easy listening, hard rock, opera - it doesn't really matter, as long as you enjoy what you are listening to.

However, there are those who believe that running to music can be hazardous. You can't hear people running up behind you, and you might inadvertently run into their running path, or if a bike is approaching you, and you don't know it, you and the rider could be seriously hurt. The bottom line is there are pluses and minuses to both sides - no one can stop you from putting on headphones while running.
