As with all treatments that are applied to your health, it always appropriate to
seek professional advice before using aromatherapy oil. This is an
introduction to using aromatherapy oil as a valuable addition to your first aid
kit. An addition that has been proven to be beneficial and without the side
effects that many conventional medications have. Follow the steps below to
start discovering the benefits for you:

Step One:

Get some background. Just by reading this article you have made a start, but
I would recommend visiting your local public library and taking one or two
easy to follow books on actually using aromatherapy oils. This is what I did
which led me to step two.

Step Two:

Buy some oils. The best two essential oils you can buy for your first aid kit
are Lavender and Tea-Tree. These are the only oils that I would recommend
that can be safely applied direct to the skin. All others would be used with a
carrier before application. A carrier is something the oil is mixed with before
use such as a massage oil.

These are the two oils that I started with and between them they can be used
for a mountain of different purposes ranging from burns to spots and many
more. In addition Lavender is good for helping you get a good night's sleep!

When buying/using aromatherapy oil, please note a few things:

a) They should be in dark glass bottles.
b) Buy from a source where turnover is regular as essential oils have a
limited shelf life.
c) Make sure you are buying "pure essential oil", not fragranced or
blended.
d) Do shop around as prices can vary wildly. They can be bought from a
variety of places from the obvious health stores to department stores
and even online.
e) Do not inhale directly from the bottle as the condensed inhalation can
cause problems.

Step Three:

Use the oils! Armed with any necessary professional advice and with those
library books or visit my page for further excellent information.

Step Four:

Evaluate the results. After application make a note of the positive results that
essential aromatherapy oils have and you will soon be making aromatherapy
oil a regular part of your first aid kit. They are so easy to take with you when
you go out too, for those accidents along the way or when insects bite!
