Why should I go to South Korea just to teach English to students, when in fact, I could land a teaching job right here in my hometown of Ohio?

Surely it never occurred to me that I would be making this kind of choice right after college. But now I'm faced with the dilemma, which my peers would call an opportunity, to travel halfway around the world just to give some students a way forward at English. It never occurred to me that I have a shot at teaching, though I just graduated with a degree in Psychology. Being born in an English-speaking nation can be a real plus. I'm happy that my being just an English-speaker could land me a job in Asia.

One part of me is saying that I should grab this opportunity. The company I'm going to work for, www.Worknplay.co.kr, gave me quite an offer. They will be paying for my air fare, not to mention my lodging. On top of that I get to receive a good amount of money, just for teaching English, and giving South Korean students a shot at "global competitiveness." I'm really starting to believe that teaching is a noble profession, and that the opportunity to teach and command instruction to young children could afford me a worthwhile activity.

Now the other part of me is saying that this could be a risky take. Though I'm not really a pessimist, I do have this belief that you're safer enough once you're on your own turf, rather than go and travel a thousand miles to a get a shot at a career, much more, a life. But I'm not putting a final say at this part of me. I am merely taking into consideration of the thousand or so possibilities, the risks, and the chances that await me in South Korea.

I'm not saying I'm confused, I'm not saying I'm sure about anything either. Probably what I need is a little advice. If you were me, what would you do? If you had the chance to travel and to earn at the same time, would you take it? Would you want to leave your home, for an opportunity a thousand miles away?

There are so many risks, but if life didn't have any, it won't be called life now would it?
