You have the rings, the date picked and even the place for the wedding and the reception booked so now all that is left if getting right music for the reception. There are many things that you will have to consider when choosing the right music. How big will the party be? What options do you have that will suit your budget? What age range of guests will you have to entertain?

This doesn't have to be as hard as it sounds. With a few simple tips you can make the task much easier.

• Start looking for a band or DJ at least 9 to 18 months prior to the date needed. Top choice DJ's and bands may be booked up to a year in advance and you want to be able to get the person or persons of your choice.

• Ask for a list of songs that the band or DJ uses for wedding receptions. You want to make sure that the music will appeal to all age groups and keep the event upbeat and entertaining.

• Make sure that you feel at ease with the DJ or the band. Having a good rapport with them will make you feel more at ease in trusting them with entertaining your friends and family.

• The right DJ or band should be willing to learn your wedding song and they should want to help make your special day even better with extra special touches such as having the Father daughter dance at the right time, or getting everyone up to dance with some fun traditional wedding dances.

• Have a list of questions to ask when interviewing people who might be playing the wedding reception music. How many breaks will they need and what music will be played while they are on a break? Do they require you to feed them at the reception? How long will they have each dance set of music set for? Is there a guarantee that I will have my musician of choice? Do they carry liability insurance?

If you are planning your event on a budget them you may want to choose a DJ as they tend to be less expensive. No matter which type of entertainment that you choose, you should try to hear them live to see exactly how they perform. You do not want to have any surprises at the last moment when it comes to your wedding reception. Your wedding reception music should be something that will help set the mood and keep the guests upbeat and happy.
