You eat right, exercise, but your body may still not be in tip-top shape. What are you missing? Internal cleansing and detoxification. When most people think of their internal health, they consider the things they are eating and taking into their body. What about the things that are just sitting around inside? There is a lot of waste that needs a way out.

There are many people who know the best way to deal with this and give your body a good cleaning, is a regular cleansing of the colon, but they may not realize there are a number of other organs that need to be cleaned out as well. In addition to your colon, your skin, kidneys, lungs and liver need a cleaning too.

Frankly, the most important organ in keeping your body clean is your liver. It has to deal with all sorts of toxins, and when the work gets to be too much and there are more and more toxins, eventually something has to give. The liver can't handle it all and some of those toxins end up in your blood and then getting into trouble throughout your body. Any effective cleansing and detoxification program will make sure to have a special emphasis on the liver for that reason. Then the other organs need to be taken care of, as well as your blood (vascular) system and lymphatic system.

While there does need to be special focus on the liver in a cleansing, the first area that needs to be cleansed is the colon, and for good reason. As we get the rest of the body's detoxification and cleansing going, a lot of that waste is going to have to make it through the colon to be removed from the body.

When you consider herbal cleansing, here are some of the ingredients you well may expect to be used to accomplish the job:

Red clover: Red clover serves two purposes, to be an expectorant and cleansing the blood.

Artichoke leaf: A formula that includes artichoke leaf is beneficial to the liver, helping heal the liver cells and helping to produce bile.

Mullein: This ingredient is good for the lungs, helping to remove mucus.

Larch gum: Larch Gum assists in the cleansing and detoxification of the lymphatic system.

Corn silk: When it is time to clean the kidneys, corn silk is the ingredient. It is a mild diuretic that will help remove waste.

Milk thistle: This antioxidant is a friend to the liver and will make the cell walls stronger and assist in the secretion of bile.

Beet: Beet will aid the liver by getting rid of fats that may be harming that organ.

Dandelion: Dandelion is a mild laxative that will help remove waste from the body during cleansing and detoxification and will also assist in the secretion of bile.

Burdock: When the skin needs cleansing help, burdock comes in, helping to expel toxins in the skin.

There are other ingredients you may want to consider as well including hawthorne berry (beneficial to heart health), aloe and rhubarb (assisting in the cleansing of the colon), and ashwagandha (which promotes healthy adrenal glands).
Another easy daily way to keep your colon clean, so it's always ready for cleansing, is to eat a lot of fiber. That way you will always be pushing waste and toxins from your body.
