The Secret To Winning Sit N Go's

Sit N Go might be an unfamiliar term to some, so let me turn to Wikipedia for a definition.
A number of places (typically, nine or ten) are allocated at a single table, and as soon as the required number of players has appeared, chips are distributed and the game starts. This method of starting single-table tournaments has caused them to be referred to as sit-and-go (SNG) tournaments, because when the required number of players "sit," the tournament "goes." Sit-and-go tournaments of more than one table are becoming more common, however, especially in Internet poker. A single-table tournament effectively behaves the same as the final table of a multi-table tournament, except that the players all begin with the same number of chips, and the betting structure starts much lower than would likely be the case at a MTT final table. Almost invariably, fixed payoffs are used.
Basically Sit N Go's are very quick and fast paced poker games. Once the required number of seats have been filled (anywhere from 2-10) the game is on! This fast paced atmosphere creates a big opportunity to profit from unexperienced players, or on the flip side, the chance to lose a lot of money really quickly! If you've never played a sit n go, you should definitely try it out. They have games as low as 1 or 2 dollars on most poker sites and this way you can get a feel for how you like the new changing environment.
All players get a set amount of chips, anywhere from 750 to 1500 is common, and a fixed payout structure usually somewhere between 25 and 100%. Sit N Go's offer a smart player the chance to profit substantially, and in a very small amount of time. It's not uncommon to hear of a good Sit N Go player walking away from the table with a thousand or more a night. While this may require more risk than you are comfortable with, a few hundred dollars a night wouldn't be so bad either, would it?

There are a few things you must keep in mind while you're playing Sit N Go tournaments.
Aggressiveness - Sit N Go's, especially the 2-6 person tables, are going to require a lot more aggressiveness than your typical poker game. If you give off a passive personality, you will get attacked. It's like blood in the water and these "sharks" will swarm. You don't need to go "all-in" on every hand, but when you get a good hand, you need to put the pressure on. Sitting back and taking it slow is a good recipe for last place in this arena.
Skills - There's a certain system most of us follow when we play poker. We only play these cards or those cards and only if we're in this or that position. These are all great skills and some of them do apply to Sit N Go poker, but there are also a whole new list of skills that you need to acquire if you want to succeed.
Ability to "read" your opponent - "Reading" your opponent becomes even more critical here because so many people like to bluff. The limited number of people inspires most people to tighten up their game subconsciously, a fact which many smart players will take advantage of. They will bet you in a little at a time, knowing that when they push "all-in" you will fold. Little things like this may not seem to be a big part of Sit N Go's, but you would be amazed how many people miss the little things.
Ability to bluff your opponent - Not only must you know how to "read" your opponent, you must know how to bluff him into thinking exactly what you want him to think. If you want him to think you're a "fish" (poker newbie - preyed on by "sharks" - poker experts), or if you want him to think you're a "shark", you've got to know what to do and what not to do. If you convince a player you're a "fish", you can pull him in with a good hand and take most, if not all, of his chip stack. If you convince him you're a "shark", you can steal the blinds (especially useful during the later stages of a game) and bluff your way out with mediocre or even bad hands.
There are many more important skills that I haven't covered, but these skills are all covered in Johnny Rothman's new poker system - Sit N Go Pro.
