One of the great impediments to a great outdoors experience whether it be at the pool or at a camp site was the fact that most music gadgets that people carried were old fashioned; not only requiring batteries but also if it was a sound system the speakers were attached to the actual musical device. This meant that the quality of music was somewhat compromised due to the wiring involved between the speakers and the actual unit. But technology has since advanced and this scenario need not be the case all the time especially for those in love with the great outdoors. Wireless outdoors speakers are here and those that want to carry their IPods to the pool or a picnic or an outdoors camping expedition can now do so with quality acoustic mini speakers to enrich their musical experience. But first of all, let us see the concept behind wireless outdoor speakers.

Wireless speakers are powered by the same technological concept that works in radios. When music is being played, a device inside the speakers picks up the wireless signal and converts them to digital signals and then transmits them to the speakers. A digital amplifier inside the speakers decodes the signal and this comes out as sound. This essentially means that the signal is sent as analog but is transmitted as digital by the digital decoder inside the speaker system. This translates to very quality sound.

The range of wireless speakers can be said to be the same range that one would receive with a good cordless phone. This can be about 900MHz. One plus about wireless speakers is that the signal can transmit through walls making it convenient for users. No cables are needed to connect between the speakers and the tuner/receiver. The speakers also come with a tuner knob which can be used to tune the signal to the best frequency.

Wireless speakers are very convenient. They can be placed in any direction to the discretion of the listener and can transmit sound in any direction. This can be ideal for a group setting and the speakers can be placed out of the way where they will not hinder social activity.

Wireless speakers have become especially popular with outdoor recreational activities. This is because rather than each person coming with their own musical device, the whole group can listen to the same speakers which can be conveniently placed out of sight.

One downside to wireless speakers is that even though the name suggests they are wireless, they do require an electrical cord that runs from the speakers to the wall outlet. Another downside is that the speakers, although elegant, cannot guarantee quality sound past a certain distance from the tuner. This is because the signal gets weaker with distance. The signal being decoded can also experience interference especially if there are other wireless devices in the vicinity such as cell phones and other Bluetooth devices.
