It is important to consider the current trends in the retail design world in order to keep your store environment on the right track. Never settle into a rut with your store display, but constantly search the market for new ideas and upcoming display trends. The customers of today are very demanding when it comes to organization and aesthetics.

Technology integration in retail store display systems is a fast growing trend and conceivable the next standard for today's shoppers. Soon stores will be outfitted with miniature monitors and other screen technology to lure the consuming eye. Also, touch screen kiosks will assist customers with questions from product prices, to location, to inventory. This will obviously cut employment costs, but it is valuable to consider the effects this will have on your retail environment. Consider your niche group of customers and their likelihood to appreciate this approach to navigating your store. Whatever your feeling on technology integration, keep your eye on this quickly growing phenomena.

Another growing trend in product display lies in organizing your merchandise to tell a story, or show a sequence. These solution-oriented displays are proven to move products more efficiently. For the consumers convenience, some stores will cluster seasonal gifts, wrapping paper, cards, and even a shipping counter to allow the consumer to cover all of their needs in a short amount of time. You may have already noticed this approach in master marketing stores such as Walmart, Target, and large department stores.

The world of printing has greatly evolved in the last five years, and retailers are using these advancements to create innovative store designs. Large-format digital pictures can now be printed on surfaces such as wood and mesh, allowing economical ways to create a dramatic impression on the customer. This is helpful for advertisement as well as store image. Printing trends are paving the way to a new retail environment bejeweled by pictures and graphics.

Customers desire multiple options of similar products less and less. The trend for SKU's is shrinking, as buyers prefer just the top six or less of any such product. It is only predicted that this margin will decrease customers become more name oriented. Most shoppers are either seeking a particular quality brand or the cheapest product on the shelf. With this observation, it is simple to assess the fact that there is now need for such a large amount of inventory of varying brands. Cut down on your own costs, and provide what customers are buying. More types products does not mean more success.

These are just a few directions that retail trends are moving that storeowners and managers should be aware of. However, the search for the future design of your sales floor should certainly not end there. Take a look at the successful stores in your area, and consider what new customer accommodations they are investing in. Remember, the retail display world is ever changing, and American customers especially, expect the best.
