These and many such questions arise from the fact that with the pace at which technology is advancing, everyone is looking forward to better means of work environment and corporations are stressing on systems that can automate processes, which kill employee-working time.

When we talk about issues in regards to tracking employee work hours, we never try to compare it with the way things made in earlier days and try to evaluate it with the new systems used by some companies. This is pure human nature or you can call it to be demand of the progressing time.

Earlier it was manual paper work where books maintained to manage employee work hours. Then evolved computers and with it later came in Excel. Every one over-whelmed with this new concept of managing employee time without manually calculating everything. It certainly cut down on efforts and hours wasted by some people to perform these tasks and eventually allowed companies to explore with managing many employees under one umbrella with ease.

After everyone got used to the new systems and years passed by, then came in issues with the efforts put in for maintaining excel sheets. Here it was a very critical phase of software industry evolution since many things were happening around in technology development.

Entered automated software's, where in you make entry at one place and it automatically gets others sheets to update the same with the use of database system and programming. Initially as it goes industry circles were a bit skeptical about the new technology most of it because of incomplete knowledge base. Slowly companies started adopting the new systems looking forward to the future and then it was just about one better than the other approach for many years.

Lately large corporations have realized the difficulties in managing the servers that stores all their most important employee related databases and with the growing concern came in another technology called "On-Demand". It means the software system provider not only avails you with the software features but also hosts your entire database on their servers. So all you need to do is go to a defined web-address, type in your company name, username and password and just punch in. Administrators managing the systems provided with more advanced features of generating different types of reports that they usually make to track employee work hours and other activities.
