If part of you're regular life includes trying to help others, including giving money to charities, you should consider not only continuing this trend, but also using your best cash back credit cards or your best rewards credit cards to allow yourself a little something in return for your good deeds.

If you haven't thought of using your credit cards as a way to donate to charity, read up and learn why it's the only way to go.

Tax Deduction

The first reason you want to make your charitable contribution through a credit card is that using a credit card offers an instant receipt. At the end of the year, when you are sorting out your taxes, you never know if one more charitable donation will help you to get a little more off of your taxes and lessen your payout to the IRS.

Double Your Donation

Does your company offer a program where it will match any donations you make to charity? Many businesses do. If yours does, the only way they will match the money you have donated is if you have proof of the donation. If you hand over cash, you may not get this proof. But, by using a credit card, you will be able to show the company how you paid your donation and the amount, giving them an easy way to match your donation, and double the impact for the charity.

Enjoy the Rewards

If you already know you are going to make the donation, why not use a method that will help you out at the same time. Using some of the best rewards credit cards you will be able to earn a lot of points towards gift certificates or even travel vouchers, depending on the kind of card you have. Additionally, if you have some of the best cash back credit cards you could be getting 2 cents, 5 cents or more per dollar back on the money you donated.

Know Who You Are Giving To

Before you hand over your credit card number to a charity, make sure you know just whom they are and how your money will be spent. Unfortunately, there are plenty of unscrupulous people out there that will set up a bogus charity to try and take your money.

Check with the Better Business Bureau www.bbb.org/charity to see if they are on the up and up.
