The Best Affiliate Resources.

I just wanted to clear up a couple of things. I've run into a lot of people lately who claim to be making money from affiliate programs, adsense, ebay, and any number of other methods. I've noticed, however, that when I start asking them for help they're either unwilling to give advice or they don't know anything. This has got to stop. Affiliate marketing and other online income sources really are an easy way to get some extra cash, and if you're willing to put the effort into it you can literally make a living from affiliate sales alone. It really isn't that hard you just need to know where to go to get started.
First off you need to learn the basics. If you're already web savvy this step will be child's play. If, on the other hand, you're as stupefied as I was when I started out you're gonna need a couple good resources. Fortunately for you, but unfortunate for me, I've had the displeasure of sifting through all the garbage out there. I tried a few different ebooks, went to all the forums, read articles, and asked around to try to figure out the best ways of doing things. After a while I finally got things straight in my head and started making some decent money, but it could have been a lot easier if I would have had a couple good beginner's guides right from the start.
In my opinion Holly Mann's book Entrepreneur Success is the one truly indispensable guide for the beginner (or intermediate) marketer. She goes through everything you could possibly need to know to get you started and even gives a bunch of techniques to take you to the next level. Other than that you could also check out Google Cash. It is a little bit out dated, and I really don't think too many people could make a good living from doing the cold selling advocated in this book, but it does cover the basics in great detail. I certainly wouldn't recommend getting this book by itself because you might be misled into spending a whole lot of money on useless advertising, but it will give you a good idea how to get started with everything and in conjunction with Holly Mann's book you'll be making money in no time.
From here you have a couple of options. First you can just stick with what you know from Holly Mann's book. This means setting up an opt-in list and getting an auto-responder. A very smart choice. Or you can check out either The Rich Jerk or Project X. Both these books imply that the best course of action is to eventually invest in an auto responder and build a list, but that takes time and we all want our money now. So these guys have made it easier on us and given us a few more advanced techniques. The go into greater detail on how to pick the right products, the art of the pre-sell, and the all important search engine optimization. There's a lot of great info in these books that I have never seen anywhere else but there is one tiny glitch in their systems; they aren't completely honest. Don't get me wrong, they aren't advocating stealing or anything so blatant, but they're techniques are slightly left of center. The Rich Jerk is mostly pretty honest, and he offers a lot of info on alternative streams of internet income, but he also doesn't have any qualms about lying to his customers. Project X is almost entirely amoral. His techniques will get you a whole heap of money but you'll have to be fine shutting off your conscience for a while.
So there you go. If you're tired of working for someone else, or just looking for a little extra cash just start with Entrepreneur Success (it really is the best one I've found, and the cheapest) and let yourself get hooked in. Once you make that first sale and see how easy it is you'll be glued to your computer.
All the best,
Luke.
