A router is a working tool of the wood used with the rout outside (cavity outside) a sector vis-a-vis a piece of wood. It was a tool used in particular by manufacturers of model and manufacturers of staircase and was composed of a plane out of wooden offering all the range of products of hand with a narrow blade projecting well beyond its base plate gaining it the tooth woman of nickname of the old woman. Since approximately 1960, it was replaced by the modern router of axis, which was designed for same work, although the first electric routers of hand appeared in years just before the First World War.

More improvement produced the router of dive, invented by Elu (left the deWalt now) in Germany towards the end of the Forties. It still better is adapted for many types of work. Today, of the routers actuated with the hand traditional are often called the planes of router. The modern routers are often employed instead of the planes or of the traditional machines of moulding of moulor of axis for the decoration of edge (moulding) of the structural timber. Bound to the router, is a smaller version of lighter designed specifically for the règlage laminates. It can be employed for a smaller work general of advance.

For example with a suitable gauge it can be employed inserting hinges of door and inserting the plates before etc of lock. The router of axis is placed at the finer end of the balance of work made by an axis of moulding. I.e. it can cut the grooves, the frame of edge, and the chamfer or the ray the edge of a piece of wood. It is also possible to employ it to cut some joints. The form of the cut which is created is determined by the size and the form of (cutter) held little in the ring and the depth by the adjustment of depth of the plates.
