Getting Through Winter-Games Instead Of TV

After the weather we've had this year, I'm sure most people can't even think about another few months of it. Its freezing nights, its turns dark at 5 o'clock, and we still have a couple more months to go. Not only that, you're getting sick of watching the same old TV shows everynight. Looking for some unique ideas to get you through the cold, cold winter? Well, here are just a few ideas to get you going.

If you've been around the midwest, you know the game of cornhole is a popular backyard event. Its a bean bag toss game where you throw corn filled bags at a wooden platform and tries to score the most points. This game is growing like crazy, and with good reason, its a game that young and old can play and have a good time doing it. Well, due to the growth of the game, now there is an indoor game available. What a perfect way to look forward to summer than starting a little cornhole tournament in the basement!

I personally like to play games in the winter that last over more than just a couple hours. Games where you can keep an ongoing tally make it fun and keep you looking forward to the next game. You can play it with backgammon, checkers, chess, or Master Mind. Even if you only play for thirty minutes or so a night, its fun to keep the tally going. The score stays on the refridgerator so all your guests can see who is in the lead!

A good book is another good way of passing the time in the winter. I personally get recommendations of a good series of books and then I just put my nose down until I'm down with the series. The winter is where I get my most serious reading done, I pretty much do none of it any other season of the year. So between games and books, hopefully that will distract you enough to get through the cold and dark winter.
