Keep Your Image Strong

There are a lot of different things that go into the image you need to present to people. If you work in a service industry where you are the center piece of your company this becomes even more important. If you aren't able to convince people that you're the right person for the job, they won't bother to give you any business.

Part of this image is your basic appearance along with a list of references. The more people who you work with and do well with the more options you'll have for referrals and other methods of proving your skill. If you look professional people will be more likely to trust you. You have to look the part, after all.


But the knowledge you have is another thing to keep track of, and to consider when trying to market yourself. This is often what people are going to want to know about. They might not care as much about what other people have thought about you, and instead what to judge you based on how well you know your industry.


So how do you demonstrate your skill to people who have never used your services? Booklet printing and speaking at various workshops or seminars are the best methods for accomplishing this.


A booklet gives you the chance to talk about your skills in a way you wouldn't normally be able to. This format is designed to be longer and to give you the ability to say exactly what you want to without the normal flash and fare that comes with advertising.


These work best when dealing with people who are willing to sit down and hear you out, and work wonders in conjunction with speeches, which is the second point I'll make.


Find local groups or other various organizations you can use to give speeches at or teach classes for. This way you're benefiting others with your knowledge as well as demonstrating to those who might want to use your services just how well you know your job.


If you get booklet printing done ahead of time you can then have booklets to hand out to people once they're done listening to your speech. This way you know they're going to be more likely to sit down and read through your booklet because they've already expressed interest in your field and learning more about it.


The service industry will always place a greater emphasis on what a person knows because that's just the heart of the industry. You have to trust someone to hire out their skills to do a job. That means your job then becomes developing that trust and being sure people know you are the best person for them. This isn't always easy, but if you find the right methods to promote yourself, it can be done.
