Where Are You Today? Where Will You Be Tomorrow?

In the springtime of 1975, I heard a statement that just flabbergasted me! It really blew me away! It was indeed one of the moments in life that just stops you dead in your tracks.
The statement I heard had two parts to it. The first part was, "You are today where you are because of your believing."
It was bold and confronting. Initially, I didn't like it. Was it really saying that I am today in life where I am because of my believing? If it was true, it would simply eliminate any excuses that I had for my life. That would put all the responsibility for my life on me.
That would mean that "where I was" in my life was because of me!
That challenged me to be logical for a change instead of emotional. When you think about it honestly, if that statement is not true, then we are today where we are because of what? Is it because of everybody else? Is it because of the economy? Is it because of limited education?
Are any of us responsible for our own actions anymore? Sadly, in the last thirty-two years since I first heard that statement, our culture continues to evolve into a victim mentality. Nothing is anyone's fault anymore. Something else or some one else is to blame.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Although the first part of that statement was very confronting to me, the second part of it was very encouraging. "You will be tomorrow where your believing takes you." Now that gave me some hope! I could take charge of my own life, regardless of the surroundings or the situations that currently existed. I could be in control of my own life and future.
It really was my choice, and still is.
Over the years, I have gained an understanding and an appreciation of what the word, "believing," in that statement meant. Our belief system, what we accept as absolutely true, what we believe, comes from the heart. Those "beliefs" get into our heart through our mind.
Some call it, the, "heart and mind." Others call it, "subconscious and conscious." Whatever you want to call it, just make sure you understand how it works.
Thoughts hit our mind all the time. Thinking something one time does not transfer the thought from your mind into your heart to form a belief system. Rather, it is those consistent thoughts, running over and over that will end up in your heart.
Once something is in the heart, it becomes a belief system. It is now what you believe. It is what you accept as right or true. And, most importantly, it is what you will attract into your life. That's the way the Creator designed our minds to function.
No wonder the Bible says to "guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life!" And, as I've quoted so many times, "As he thinks in his heart, so is he."
You are today in your life where you are because of your believing; your belief system in your heart will act like a magnet.
You will be tomorrow where your believing takes you.
Here's the good news! If there are areas in your life that you want to change, you can! Just discard the thoughts of your life that you don't want, and keep your focus and attention on the thoughts of how you do want your life to be. Remain consistent until these thoughts become beliefs in your heart.
Some things may take a little longer than others. That's okay, because now you're in charge of your life. Refuse to settle!
