Success In Building Your Fortune On The Internet

That's what all of the ads say but what is for real? Let's start by sharing a few, mostly successful,experiences.
1. 1999 began the first experience with a website. It cost about $2,000 to build a simple one page site plus hosting fees through the site builder of $200 month. No bells and whistles. Just a simple informational site on who I was and "email or phone me to apply for a mortgage." Believe it or not, it averaged over $3000 in net income per month for a year. It was basically the only show in town.
2. Then the internet exploded with competing sites until it produced almost no business. There were two choices. Either upgrade at substantial cost or give up. Goodbye website.
3. A young teenage acquaintance was in love with acting. He started a site (1996) where he posted information and pictures he found for free. Then there was a link to the stars site on a pay for click. By doing things he was interested in, he produced a income of hundreds to thousands of dollars per month. He still makes more money part time than most full time jobs.
4. 2006 brought me back into the website business. It cost less than $500 to build (using a template) and about $50 per month to host. There was many features which proved instrumental in helping build a mortgage income of $20,000 to $50,000 per month until the mortgage business fell apart.
5. While looking for a marketing job, I interviewed/researched 2 different companies who offered "fantastic training and coaching on how to succeed in internet marketing. The programs cost between $5000 and $12000. The only difference that was obvious was how much money they could get out of the potential client. Neither of the companies had experience in internet marketing except how to draw potential buyers to their site. The "coaches" had no experience in internet marketing only reading their information from the computer. They did provide information on drop shippers and a few companies that would set anyone up on pay per click or affiliate marketing. This is a lucrative field with many companies involved
OK so then how do we start making money on the internet without spending a lot of money?
