Mobile, Alabama is a medium sized city with a population of 198,915. Mobile is located in Mobile County, and it is situated on the Gulf Coast (along the Gulf of Mexico). A population dense city in terms of the rest of the state of Alabama, Mobile is contained within just 117.9 square miles. This city is also the home town to some of baseball's greatest players. Hank Aaron hails from Mobile, and other baseball and football players join him.

The nearest large city to Mobile, Alabama is New Orleans, Louisiana - which is 143 miles away. There are several learning institutions in and around Mobile, and these include the University of South Alabama as well as the University of Mobile. The city of Mobile is also home to two separate airports.
