Nearly all customs and traditions being observed in weddings today are simply echoes of ancient times. We integrate old world traditions into weddings because they are conventional and ritualistic. Marriage customs and traditions continue to thrive nowadays. They may be disguised and diluted but they are still memorialized. Some wedding traditions still being exercised today are as follows.

• Bride wearing a white Brooklyn bridal gown which symbolizes purity.

• Bride wearing a veil because it is considered bad luck for the bride to be seen by the groom just before the ceremony.

• Bride carrying a handkerchief during the wedding to dab the tears of joy and happiness.

• Bridesmaids, ushers and the whole bridal entourage usually dress very much alike. The groom's attendants wore clothes almost identical to his while the women wore dresses that are has the motif chosen by the bride.

• The honeymoon which came from ancient tradition of men taking their bride to a secret place while the moon went through all its phases and drank a brew made from honey.

• Bride carries flowers to bring beauty and elegance to their special day

• Something blue to wear because blue symbolizes purity and fidelity

• Wedding cake is a special part of the wedding celebration because it symbolizes fertility

• The groom's cake is a smaller cake than that of the wedding cake and is also served during the wedding reception. Young unmarried women would usually take a piece of the groom's cake home to place under their pillow to dream about the man they'll marry in the future

• The wedding ring symbolizes unending love that is why it is circular in shape. It is usually gold because it has the lasting qualities of beauty and purity

There are still a lot of customs and traditions being followed but that would be in another story.
