If you have a career that interacts with the public on a daily basis, then you know how important it is to keep up your visual appearance. Good grooming, professional attire, and a big smile go a long ways - just about every aspect of your appearance can be enhanced with the use of a little cash. You can buy classy clothes. You can pay for a quality haircut. And you can even purchase cosmetic dentistry for a brighter, whiter smile.

Hollywood types know how important their appearance is in relation to their success. If they don't look their best at all times they will lose favor among the masses. They must have perfect teeth, they must have perfect clothes, and they must have perfect hair!

Getting a movie start smile is easier than most people think. There are many procedures that can help you improve your smile. This article will discuss veneers, implants, and crowns.

Veneers are one of the quicker solutions available in cosmetic dentistry. They are a very thin layer of plastic or porcelain that is permanently glued to the front of your teeth. They're basically a façade - a false front that overlays your real teeth.

In order to prepare your teeth for a set of veneers, your dentist will need to shave a thin layer of enamel off the front of your teeth. This allows the veneers to stick better to your teeth, and allows them to sit in a much more natural looking position. Veneers can provide just about anyone with a brand new smile in a very short period of time. Speak with your family dentist to learn more about them.

Do you have a jagged or chipped tooth? Or perhaps a tooth that is poorly aligned with your other teeth? You can have a cap or crown installed on top of that tooth to mask its natural appearance. Caps and crowns are relatively quick solutions for misshapen teeth. They're also a great solution for cracked teeth. Your dentist will need to grind off a large portion of your tooth, trimming it all the way down until your tooth looks like a "round peg" look. He or she will then permanently cement a cap directly on top of the tooth. Crowns are available in many styles: resin, metal, and gold, just to name a few. Depending on where the crown is located in your mouth, you may want to opt for a more natural looking tooth so that it doesn't stand out when you smile.

Implants are the ultimate form of replacing a missing tooth. The entire procedure for a properly installed dental implant can take anywhere from twelve months to two years! However, the final result is a beautiful, perfectly matched implant that will most likely last you anywhere from 30 to 40 years.

The first step in getting a dental implant is the pilot hole: your dentist will drill a hole directly in the jaw location of your missing tooth. He will then widen the hole and install an implant post. The post is then allowed to sit for six to nine months while your body's jawbone grafts to it and permanently anchors it into position.

The final stage of getting a dental implant is getting a crown cemented on top of the implant screw. Once you have your crown, you're done! At that point you will have a brand new implant that looks and works very much like a real tooth.

Cosmetic dentistry procedures continue to improve every year. What was once infeasible is now common practice. If you want to improve your smile, call your dentist. If you're afraid of the costs, don't be - the cost of cosmetic dentistry is far lower than you might think!
