Will Dog Apparel Lead To Canine Supermodels?

Are you ready for a new breed of supermodels? No, they don't have long legs or silky smooth skin. They don't have the most captivating eyes and svelte figures. They're furry, cuddly, and, with wagging tails and tongues, they can come out of the runway with an attitude: they're your dogs.

As more and more companies and designers are shifting their target market from humans to furry animals, it won't be long before we see canine supermodels. They will be the next Gisele Bundchen or Miranda Kerr or Kate Moss; and with a little effort, in addition to designer apparel and accessories, they will soon be more than ready to do the dog-walk.

How to Know If Your Dog Is the Next Top Model

Does your dog know what it takes to be the next top model? Probably not, and perhaps you don't either. Nevertheless, you still have a lot more time to make sure that in the next canine fashion show, perhaps in New York or in Paris, you'll both be all set to join in the fun and the glamorous life of the modeling world.

1. Does he have confidence? No, getting that stranger out of the house doesn't constitute to self-esteem. Your dog must be able to overcome shyness and learn how to walk with pride, with short or long fur, no matter what their color is.

2. Does he have a pleasant attitude? Keep in mind that he will not only be meeting other mutts but other people as well. It's very important that your dog remains polite and courteous at all times. Get rid of the diva mentality. The modeling world is already stressful enough that organizers and even fashion designers don't have time to put up with dogs with bad attitudes. If you think your dog needs polishing in this department, try to take him to a puppy day care or even to the bow wow camp.

3. Is he in great shape? You can't expect them to have the 36-24-36 body figure, but at least you wouldn't see the bellies drooping because of too many Scooby snacks. Besides, when your dog is in terrible shape, he's in danger of developing serious illnesses, like heart attack and obesity, which will only hinder him from becoming a good supermodel in the future. When he's not fit, ensure that he receives a proper diet and he gets the exercise he needs.

4. Can he strike a pose? When he's on stage, nothing else matters but the way he struts himself and the way he makes the turns and eye contact. The dog must have a strong impact not only to the audience but, most of all, to the fashion designers and photographers who themselves are looking for their own models.

Lastly, before he dares to take the first step on the runway, ensure that he's well groomed. There are stylists that you can hire for these important events. Who knows? He may land his first modeling contract with Calvin Klein?
