It's been 2 months since TeamLab saw the online world. The online community greeted Teamlab cordially and it got enthusiasts from the launch. Today we are starting to publish a series of case studies from TeamLab active users who tell us about how TeamLab helped them optimize their business.
So, let me introduce Shawn Borrelli, the owner of Borelli Designs:
1. Shawn, tell us several words about you and your company, its specifics and size.
Borelli Designs is a full service website design and development firm. We work with all size businesses and corporations to provide the most effective website solutions to fit our clients' needs. Whether it be content management, e-commerce, or search engine optimization, we have trained professionals dedicated to helping businesses leverage the internet effectively. Our in-house staff (between 3-5 full-time employees) manages between 10-30 freelance teams and hundreds of clients and web design/development projects each year.
2. Did you use online collaboration tools before?
No we did not! Everything was done through inner-office communications. The hardest part was all of the paperwork, emails, and phone calls associated with each client and each project.
3. Why did you decide to start using online collaboration tools in your work?
I was in desperate need for an online collaboration tool to allow not only my clients, but my employees and freelancing professionals a place to communicate more effectively and keep track of all projects and operations. When smaller tasks started slipping through the cracks, I knew we needed a chance in project management.
4. What made you choose TeamLab from other collaboration platforms?
I absolutely loved TeamLab interface. I tried just about every project management software available: ActiveCollab, Basecamp, QuickBase, EasyProjects. And every software out there wanted to charge an arm and a leg for the number of user accounts or for the number of projects you can have!
With TeamLab, I get the most attractive and easy-to-use interface, unlimited projects, and unlimited user accounts. All free! I determined, after months of testing them all, that TeamLab software is absolutely the best PM software available.
5. How often do you use TeamLab?
Everyday.
6. Did you notice any changes in your business operations after you started using TeamLab?
Yes. Less things slipped through the cracks. I would still like the ability to allow my clients access to their projects (and only their projects) so I can have seamless collaboration with my employees and my client production. That would drastically increase the effectiveness of my business operations. For now, my business operations have increased 10-fold as now I finally have a central location to organize our client productions and share them with my employees. Now, more client production gets done, and less work slips through the cracks.
7. What TeamLab features do you feel are the most useful ones for your team? What is their overall impact?
As the owner, it's most useful for me to have a place to organize all of my employees. The e-cards are great! I love them! For my team, the most useful TeamLab feature is the ability to manage all of our projects, and all tasks for each project, in one location. Basically, I managed everything before TeamLab software. This meant I really had to do everything, and couldn't share the workload. Now, it's much easier for me to share the workload, and have employees and freelancers know what's going on and what needs to be done.
Thank you, Shawn, for your time!
