My name is Steve Hill from England. My parents bought me up to only accept the best in life, I will never forget my father saying to me, on numerous occasions, that very few people remember the people who lose in the final of a tournament and that it is only the winner who has their name engraved on the trophy. Some people may argue that this is the wrong way to bring up your children but I would disagree. I am now a very determined character who does not accept second best and who works very hard to reach the top. In this article I will be giving advice on what people can do to achieve success and to become a winner.
For me it is all about dedication, hard work and determination. For example, in sports you need to practice and practice until you improve enough to become a winner. I like to read books about various famous sports men and women. In one of these books I read about how David Beckham would always stay behind after training when he was a young sixteen year old man, this would be so that he could train even more. Even if it meant that he was training on his own he did not mind. A rather famous employee at Manchester United once asked him what he was doing, why are you still here son, why don't you go off with your mates and have some fun? David was known to reply, I just want to play football sir.
A few years after this David would go on to captain his country. If other players in the England team that he captained had had the same level of desire, character and dedication, I am convinced that this team could have won a major trophy in the last few years. Instead it seems that too many of them are what we in England call "pretty boys" who are seemingly just in it for the money.
To be a winner, work hard and ensure that you leave no stone unturned in your quest to reach the top.
